Core Training Makes Runners More Efficient

Runners who are serious about improving their endurance may benefit from core training.

In a new study in the journal “PLos One”, 11 runners trained their core three times per week in addition to their normal running regimen. Compared to the control group, these runners improved both balance and running economy, a measurement of running efficiency.

Conclusions

Runners, along with all athletes, benefit tremendously from improving core stability.
