There may be a connection between injuries at the elbow and injuries at the hip.
In a new study in the “Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine”, researchers examined 145 MLB pitchers suffering from elbow injury. After receiving UCL reconstruction surgery, these pitchers were 74% more likely than control subjects to eventually sustain a hip injury.
Conclusions
Mechanical changes at one segment of the body can have profound and lasting impacts on the functioning of other joints.
